How the system works - The C21e Clay Solar Roof

Solar photovoltaics (PV) are semi-conducting materials that generate clean electricity when exposed to light.

 

 

 

Any roof, apart from a North facing aspect, is potentially suitable.

 

The tiles are integrated into the roof and generate electricity from daylight

 

The inverter, connected to the fuse box, converts solar electricity from direct current to alternating current for use in the house.

 

Connection to the electricity network allows any excess power generated to be sold back to the electricity company via the grid.

 

During the day solar electricity is used in preference to the grid, at night electricity is imported as normal.
